These terms govern your use of WriteOffRoad (writeoffroad.com), operated by John Gribben. By using the site you agree to them.
WriteOffRoad is a calculation and record-keeping tool. You upload your Google Maps Timeline export; we identify trips more than 50 miles from your tax home and calculate mileage and IRS per diem amounts using published GSA, IRS, DoD, and State Department rates. We produce a report you can give to your tax professional.
Nothing on this site is tax, legal, or financial advice. We do not prepare or file returns, and we do not represent you before the IRS.
Whether a deduction is allowable depends on facts we cannot verify — the business purpose of each trip, your correct tax home, your filing situation. Review the output with a qualified tax professional before filing.
WriteOffRoad reconstructs records from location history you already have. To track going forward, use a dedicated tracking app.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at contact@writeoffroad.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
Current pricing is shown on the site. Payments are processed by Stripe.
You can preview your estimated results for free before paying. Because of that, purchases are generally final. That said, if the product does not work as described — the export fails, the calculation is broken, you were charged twice — email contact@writeoffroad.com within 30 days and we will make it right.
Lifetime Access means access for as long as WriteOffRoad operates as a service. It is not a guarantee of perpetual operation.
We use published federal per diem rates and apply IRS rules including the 75% partial-day rule, the 50-mile threshold, multi-day trip grouping, and final-day lodging exclusion. Rates change and published sources are occasionally revised. We make a good-faith effort to keep rates current but do not warrant that every rate is correct at the moment you use the tool.
The site, its content, and its calculation logic belong to us. The report generated from your data belongs to you — use it however you like.
We provide the service “as is.” We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue features.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of WriteOffRoad is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including tax penalties, interest, additional tax assessed, or professional fees arising from your use of the output. You and your tax professional are responsible for what you file.
We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated version.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
